[All-Clear] Server issue affecting ~1/16 of residents/groups

Monday, May 26th, 2008

[ALL-CLEAR 22:34] The server issue is resolved, and all affected residents, groups and objects should be returning to their normal operation.

There is an issue with a central server which is affecting approximately 1/16 of all Second Life residents. Affected residents are currently unable to login, and those who are already inworld may show as offline, and can expect to experience disruption of inworld services such as IM. Additionally 1/16th of all objects will currently not receive email, and 1/16th of all groups will not be able to use Group Chat. Please monitor this post for updates as they become available.

[Resolved] Outdated Map Data

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

[RESOLVED May 16 @ 11:55 p.m.]  Thanks everyone for your patience, the Map of Second Life has been updated and this issue has been resolved.  - Frontier

[UPDATE 5/15 13:58] Map data was updated for half of the grid this morning. The other half will be updated with the rolling restart scheduled for tomorrow morning.

The Map is currently showing an earlier version of the Second Life grid. This is only affecting the Map - all inworld locations remain unchanged. We are aware of the issue, and the Map data is in the process of updating, which we anticipate being completed overnight.

[CLEARED] Logins and other db-related services slow

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

[FINAL UPDATE 4:27 p.m. Pacific] In world services and support portal access are fully restored. The Concierge and Grid teams are working with a slightly higher than normal count of regions which have entered restart, but that backlog should be cleared within the next few minutes.

[UPDATE 3:01 pm Pacific] Operations has spent the past hour swapping in some database resources. Their efforts have made a difference, but throughput could still stand some improvement. Work continues.

[1:53 pm Pacific] A sudden heavy load on the database is causing slow logins and inhibiting access to the support portal, and may be impacting in world transactions for some residents as well. We’ll keep you posted as we work to assess and correct the problem.
