[UPDATE] Server 1.36 Deploy

[UPDATED 17 FEB 2010 11:00AM PST]  We have restarted the 1.36 Server Deployment.  We apologize for any incovenience this may cause our residents.  Again, regions should be down for no longer than 30 minutes at a time.  If yours is down for longer, please comment with the region name and we will look into it.  We appreciate your patience with this.  Thank you.
[Update 17th February 7.10am] We are starting this deploy and will update again when it has completed.
[updated Feb 16, 2010 at 11:10 am PST]  We’re rolling back the deployed code.   Approximately 50% of the even-numbered regions will experience another restart this afternoon as we revert to the prior release.
We’ve tentatively scheduled re-release commencing tomorrow.
We’ll be providing more detailed information on this rollback shortly.  For now: If you have an inworld vending device that’s suddenly and repeatedly resetting itself, that’s the bug that has us rolling the server code back.
Your vendors should return to normal operation after your region restarts with the older version of the simulator code this afternoon.  If not, please contact Support.
[updated Feb. 16, 2010 @ 7:10 am PST] The deploy has commenced for the even numbered regions. As stated below, each region should be down for no more than 30 minutes. Thank you for your patience during this process.
[Posted Feb. 9, 2010] Hi everyone, another server deploy is upon us!  The schedule for the rolling restart is thus:
  • 2010-02-10, 7a - 12p: Pilot Regions[1]
  • 2010-02-16, 7a - 12p: Even numbered sims
  • 2010-02-17, 7a - 12p: Odd numbered sims

Regions should be down no more than 30 minutes.  If yours is down longer than that, please leave a comment with the region name and we’ll look into it.  This thread will be updated with the status of the deploy when it begins.

[POSTPONED] Network Maintenance Wednesday at 6 a.m. Pacific

[POSTPONED 17 FEB 2010] Network maintenance has been temporarily postponed for now.  We will update the blog with more information as it becomes available.  Thank you.

We’ll be performing required network maintenance tomorrow, 17 Feb, beginning at 6 a.m. Pacific and taking three hours at most.

Logins will remain open and there should be no significant disruption of inworld services. However, Residents may experience isolated TP and transaction failures.

As always, we’ll post here if the scope or scheduling of the work changes.

[Resolved] Inworld, Log-In Issues

[Resolved 5:30pm PST] We have resolved the hardware issues that were affecting log-ins and inventory access. If you still cannot log in or are having inventory related issues, please contact Support.

[Posted 3:30pm PST] We’re currently experiencing some hardware issues that will affect some residents. Symptoms include inability to log in, and inability to access inventory or rez objects while inworld. We’re working to restore full functionality as soon as possible and will post here when we have more information.

[Resolved] Telephone Support Experiencing Busy Signals

[Posted 9:45am PST] We are currently experiencing some issues with our telephone support system with some toll-free calls constantly getting busy signals. Temporary Display Errors with L$ Balances

A number of concerned Residents have contacted us regarding unexpected drops in their inworld account balances (usually to -L$1) immediately after purchasing items.

This is a display error, not an accounting issue.  Your actual L$ balance is still there.

If your account balance suddenly drops in this fashion, a quick change of group tags may correct the balance display for you. If not, a relog certainly should.

By way of assurance:  When you pay an inworld vendor or avatar, the recipient does not have the ability to alter the amount of the transaction.  Two healthy precautions you can take to prevent unexpected actual changes to your account balance are:

  • Take your time and read the amount on “Fast Pay” panels before you send payment to a scripted item. Fast Pay panels which offer an option to fill your own amount in can sometimes remember the amount you entered the last time you had a Fast Pay panel open on the same device.
  • Be very, VERY careful to offer Debit Permissions ONLY to scripted items from creators and previous owners with whom you’ve established a trust relationship.
We know this display issue is disconcerting, and we’re tracing it to the source.

[Posted 12:55pm PST] There are current issues that are preventing some logins, as well as affecting in-world transactions, teleports and related actions. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, please refrain from any sensitive transactions or rezzing any no-copy items.

[Posted Feb 13, 6:17am PST] We are aware that the traffic numbers gridwide for last night’s run are significantly lower than normal and are working to locate the reason and resolve the issue. Further information will be posted as it becomes available.

Upgrade Maintenance February 13th, 2010 22:00 PST - 2:00 AM PST
