Second Life Grid Status Reports

A new Release Candidate (RC8) viewer has been made available on the Test Software page for connecting to the Second Life Grid. This viewer contains bug fixes and/or soon-to-be-released new features. Release Candidate viewers are optional and can be installed side by side with the primary viewer.

Please remember: try the RC viewer only if you want to participate in the bug reporting process and identify issues before it becomes the default viewer.

[6:27 AM PDT] Everything should be back to normal for those residents affected by this minor emergency maintenance of one of the inventory databases. You should now once again be able to log in normally. Please give the system some extra time to fully load your inventory as you do. -Chiyo

[5:50 AM PDT] One of our inventory databases needs some repair. While this is being done, accounts on that database will be logged out and will not be able to log in. This should only take about 15 minutes to complete. For those of you who find yourselves logged out, we apologize for the inconvenience. We will give the ‘all clear’ when the repair is complete. -Chiyo

[RESOLVED 13:10 PDT]  The database issues are corrected and the all-clear has been sounded.  Please continue with your regularly scheduled Thursday.

[UPDATE 12:30 PDT] The Support Portal is currently down, and the Land store has been taken off-line for the duration. Please continue to monitor this post for updates.

Issues with the database are currently affecting inworld services, logins, and the website. Please refrain from attempting inworld transactions, rezzing valuable or no-copy items, and logging in until the all-clear is announced.

Linden Dollar Transactions will fail when using the RC7 Second Life Viewer.  Please try to purchase Linden Dollars from the main website: http://www.secondlife.com for the time being.  We will update you here when further information is available.  Thank you for your patience.

We’re conducting some scheduled maintenance on the voice servers tomorrow, 2008-05-21, from 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM Pacific time. This maintenance consists of a web API update and a media server update. These changes will be pushed in the form of a rolling update, which means that each region will experience a voice-only downtime for a few minutes as the individual media server supporting a particular region is restarted.

This update also includes:

• Capacity improvements for large positional (spatial) channels
• A fix for an issue that causes problems when joining channels with single quotes in the channel name

[Update 6:14 p.m. PDT] The inventory server that was causing some residents to have login problems is up and running. Logins are now available.

Some residents are experiencing login failure due to an inventory server issue. We will correct this problem as quickly as possible.

The current issues have been resolved.

We are currently experiencing login issues as well as issues with Teleporting, Map usage and Asset Servers. We are aware of the problem and investigating it’s cause. More updates will be posted here. Thank you for your patience.
